Summer

The valley turns green — and gets busy in a good way.

The Adventure Center opens, Corcoran Pond fills with paddleboards, and the Pemigewasset (“the Pemi”) becomes the region's favorite lazy river.

Fall & Spring

The shoulder seasons might be the sweet spot.

Mid-September through mid-October is peak foliage — book early. Late April and May are quiet and green, with the waterfalls at full tilt. Many restaurants keep shorter hours, but the trails are yours.

  • Peak foliage along the Kancamagus Highway (Route 112)
  • Fall festivals and craft fairs in Town Square
  • Warm days and cool nights — perfect hiking weather
  • Great value on rentals compared with winter and mid-summer
  • Spring skiing on Mount Tecumseh into early April
